Palacios ATA Martial Arts | TESTIMONIALS

August 24, 2011

Integrity, Discipline, Leadership

These are three principles that our son, Antonio, has developed while at Palacios ATA.  He has transformed into a young man that loves Tae Kwon Do and will continue to apply those skills for a lifetime.  During his time there, Antonio has been given responsibility to help others during class.  Antonio has learned to be patient with those younger than him and has even been seen as a role model to those he helps.  In addition, as part of his on-going training, he has been tasked to lead students in workouts, and demonstrate those same principles he has developed.  As parents of Antonio, we are grateful to Palacios ATA for instilling these principles to our son and others.

Ms. Palacios, I wanted to share my tremendous thanks to you, your instructors and your students for all that you have done for Seth. Although you would not be able to tell today, but at 6 years old, Seth was a very shy and unassuming child, and honestly was not very confident. It was at age 6 that our family went through some significant changes that would have caused some issues for almost any child. At this point, my friend, Carmichael Simon, suggested that Seth start a martial arts program to help him get through this rough time. Carmichael, with his history in the martial arts, researched the right school for us to attend, and selected Palacios ATA as the school that Seth would fit in best at. Looking back, it was a tremendous recommendation. Over the past 1 and a half years, Seth has not only progressed as a martial artist, which is great, but the real progress was on this shy 6 year old to turn into a very confident, respectful child. Seth is currently aspiring to be the next big action movie star and you have helped teach him about setting goals, the work ethic and patience to achieve those goals and the confidence in himself to push forward. Seth recently performed a dance routing in front of 2500 people (and was awarded dancer of the year) and walks into ANY audition in front of agents and casting directors much more confident than the other kids. I have told you many times, but I sincerely thank you, not just for the martial arts that Seth is learning, but the life skills. It is going to carry him a long way in life and these are lessons that he will never forget. He will always be a confident and disciplined young man, who will be successful in life.

Thanks,
Mike and Seth Lee

MY 18, 2011

Ms. Palacios,

Francy - Who struggled to find something in the US that she was so passionate at as she was in Badminton in Switzerland.  She worked her way through gyms, tennis, and boot camps, but she has clearly found her passion in Taekwondo.  She cares more about becoming the best martial artist she can be, no matter how far that takes her.

Kara - The original reason we ever became involved in Taekwondo.  We did this to give her self-confidence.  Look at her now, almost over-confident.  She thinks she can do anything, including make straight A's in school.  Kara has never had a B in her life.  She introduced the Gilbert's to Taekwondo and also showed the drive to be first in her class in grades.

Zoe - Always in charge, has a burning desire instilled in her to be the best, be a champion.  She probably did not need the confidence that Taekwondo offers, but she did need the discipline.  For the first time, Zoe has become a straight A student this 9 weeks and deserves a shirt for working so hard and reaching her goal.

Casey - So small and cute, for her it is more about being able to defend herself.  Little girls like this could fall into the trap of lack of self-confidence very easily, but not Casey.  She has excelled in 1st grade becoming "quite the student".  She has also taken up gymnastics and track and field, and even though she's the littlest and usually last, she loves it and is dying to get better.  She is so persistent and eager to try new things, even bringing her sisters along with her.  She put her foot down in the fall and said "I've had enough soccer, I want to do gymnastics!".  Eventually, she convinced not only her only sisters, but all of us to enroll them all.

Thanks,

Pat Gilbert

Someone recently asked me, how attached we were to our ATA school because they had found another school and wanted us to join. And without hesitation I answered, very attached but thank you. We started Ms Palacios school about six months ago with my son Ian and have not looked back since. Before ATA, Ian was playing soccer and I had to drag him to every practice and game. Once we started with Taekwondo, he was begging to go to class. I started noticing other changes in him as well. I found him to be more respectful at home, taking more pride in everything he did, and becoming more involved with things around the house. I was in awe. But the real jaw dropper was when my youngest, Sidney, decided to join. I was very skeptical at first. This was my child who needed to cling to me everywhere we went, getting her into a group seemed impossible. But we gave it a try and I was completely amazed at the transformation.  I found her more respectful at home but more importantly, I found her more confident. She had always been my 'slow to warm up child'. Well that changed within a month of being with Ms Palacios. Now I am even attending class with them and I love it. So yes, we are VERY attached to Ms Palacios ATA school.

"I just want to let you know as a very proud parent how pleased we are to have you in our lives!!  Reggie has done a complete 360 since he started with ATA last year.  It has really shown in his behavior and respect both at home and in school.  This year when he started middle school I was really concerned how he would act with changing teachers all day. Surprisingly, I have been complimented on him pretty much by every one of his teachers and been told what a leader he is in class!  Camille loves classes so much she decided of all the places she could have her birthday party, to have it at ATA with a Break a Board Party :-) Thank you so much for having such a huge impact on my family and improving our day to day activities, we can not say thank you enough!!!!  Much Love and Respect!"  - Maranda Olson, Proud parent of Reggie and Camille

"My wife, daughter and I do Songahm Taekwondo, which offers something for everyone. We do traditional forms (which range from 18 to 46 moves); light contact sparring; weapons drills; and even board breaking. It's always a good cardio workout, and we often work different muscle groups in class as well. We need to develop strong core muscles for balance, leg muscles for kicks and jumps, arm and shoulder muscles for punches and blocks. Best of all, it's fun. I found I couldn't get motivated to go to a gym to work out, but I look forward to my two or three Taekwondo classes every week. I've not only gotten in better shape, but I've made some very good friends, and my daughter is really learning some good life skills, such as self-discipline, confidence and integrity.
